Thomas Glynn Merritt Jr. died Aug. 29, 2008.

He was born May 16, 1928 in Bexar County, eldest son of Thomas and Ruth Murrie Merritt Sr. He was raised in and lived his entire life in Robstown. He was a World War II Army veteran and active in the community his entire life as a member of the Nueces County Livestock Show Association, a Boy Scout leader, and a member of the Methodist Men.

He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Robstown. He was a Nueces County farmer and rancher and was retired from Robstown I.S.D. as a building trades teacher and the M & O director.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Darlene; and son, J. Eric Merritt.

He is survived by sons, Glynn (Nancy) of Kingsville, and William (Debbie) of Robstown; grandchildren, Melody, Clint, Jonathan and Gerad; and brother, James (Dorthy) of San Antonio.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown.
