Jose S. Castillo, 82, of Corpus Christi died Friday, July 25, 2008, after a long battle with cancer.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Union Local 510 in Corpus Christi. He was a Deacon at Mission Bautista Nueva Esperanza, now known as Primera Iglesia Bautista de Calallen, since May 23, 1982.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Amada Castillo; his wife, Dora Castillo; his son, Edward Rossette; two brothers and six sisters.
He is survived by two daughters, Margarita Rocha-Cuevas and Guadalupe (Daniel) Salazar, both of Corpus Christi; two daughters-in-law, Consuelo Cuevas of Corpus Christi and Priscilla Rossette of San Antonio; two brothers, Victor (Margarita) Castillo and Anacleto Castillo, both of Corpus Christi; three sisters, Nicolasa Martinez of Edroy, Trinidad Lopez of Fresno, Calif., and Ysaura Salomon of Corpus Christi; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 27, in the Ramon Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, July 28, in the Ramon Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown.
