Seth James Dubose, 83, of Gonzales, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, in Gonzales. He was born on Nov. 14, 1927, in Gonzales County to Seth Thomas and Frankie Beaver Dubose.

Seth was a veteran, having proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an avid fisherman, especially for catfish, and loved being out on the Guadalupe River setting trotlines. He enjoyed being outdoors, boating, hunting and spending time in the garden growing lots of vegetables.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanita June Dubose; brother, Selba Lee Dubose; and sister, Merle Jorgenson.

He is survived by his brother, Billy Ray Dubose of Gonzales; son, James David Dubose (Anita) of Corpus Christi; daughter, Virginia Ann Schaefer (Kenneth) of Corpus Christi; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Bro. James Schaefer officiating. A private interment was held in Saturn Cemetery. In lieu of traditional remembrances, memorials may be made in Seth's name to the Saturn Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 114, Waelder, Texas 78959.
