Deacon Ralph Perez Jr. was born Jan. 9, 1951 in Robstown, Texas to Rafael and Francisca Perez, Sr. He attended school in Robstown Independent School District.

One son, Joe Anthony Perez and one brother, Joe Perez preceded him in death. Ralph served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in April 1972. For 23 years, Ralph was employed as a machine operator with Coastal Plating in Corpus Christi, Texas. Ralph was an active member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the usher board, brotherhood, church school and wherever he was needed. In 1986, under Rev. B.T. Cherry, Bro. Perez was ordained a deacon. He served faithfully until he was called home on Jan. 28, 2010.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Perez; one son, Jason Perez; a daughter, Melissa (Rene) Gutierrez; his parents, Rafael and Francisca Perez, Sr.; two grandchildren, Melanie and Jonathan Gutierrez; four sisters, Yolanda (Manuel) Garza, Maria Vasquez, Letty (Rene) Vela, and Esther (Steven) Rivera, all of Robstown, Texas; his in-laws, Jewel and Melvin Richmond of Erin, Tenn.; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

The Funeral Service was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Robstown, Texas. Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown, Texas.
