Salvador Esquivel, 85, died Saturday, May 17, 2008.
He was born Nov. 9, 1922, in Woodsboro to Marcos and Simona Mendoza Esquivel. He was a member of 50 years and president of Club Padres de Familia. He served his country in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Guadalupe Duran Esquivel; his sisters, Ramona Perez, Anita Chavarria, Alvina Ortega, Santiaga Reyes and Jesusa Amaya; and his brother, Frank Esquivel.
Survivors include his children, Noe (Anita) Esquivel, Gloria Esquivel, Herlinda Tischler, Salvador (Rachel) Esquivel Jr., all of Robstown, Ruth (Trinidad) Botello of San Antonio, and Dalia (Ricky) Rodriguez of San Juan; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, in the Ramon Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, at the New Life Baptist Church with the Rev. Fabian Ramirez, the Rev. Raul Elizondo, the Rev. Jesse Contreras, the Rev. Trinidad Botello and the Rev. Israel Castillo officiating. Interment followed in Robstown Memorial Park.
