Albert Ayarzagoitia, 74, of Corpus Christi died on Tuesday, May 5, 2009.
He was born on Oct. 22, 1934 in La Copita to Prudencio and Emilia Ayarzagoitia. Albert was a resident of Robstown for most of his life. In the late 1970s and 1980s he served four terms as a Robstown ISD School Board Member, two terms as a Robstown City Council Member and was a former City of Robstown Municipal Court Judge. Albert retired from the Calallen ISD. He served as a Garden Angel and was a member of the choir at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church as well as a volunteer at the food pantry.
He is survived by his wife, Delfina Lerma Ayarzagoitia; one daughter, Terry A. (Brock) Thomas; four sons, Jose P. Ayarzagoitia, Andres Ayarzagoitia, Kevin (Dr. Martha Luna) Ayarzagoitia, and Patrick (Maria L.) Ayarzagoitia; three granddaughters, Stacey Ayarzagoitia, Alyssa Ayarzagoitia, and Gabriella Ayarzagoitia; five sisters, Esmeralda Tamez, Nori Lewis, Olga (Rudy) Escamilla, Ruby (David) Lieber and Emilia (Richard) Gomez.
A Rosary was recited at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 6 in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 7, at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Morgan Rowsome and the Rev. Msgr. Seamus McGowan as concelebrants. Burial followed at Robstown Memorial Park.
