Bob King, 79, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011.

He was born Sept. 14, 1931 in Agua Dulce to Ivan C. and Ruby Mae Hartsfield King. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea, was a farmer and owned Robstown Grain and King and Son Elevators from 1950-95. He coached a farmerís baseball team in the 1960s and was a tie down calf roper in rodeos for many years (1947-62).

Bob was a member of First Baptist Church in Robstown for many years, where he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member and RA counselor. He was presently a member of Calallen Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jonna King, and his son, Jeff King.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie King, of Robstown; his son, Scott (Stephanie) King, of Orange Grove; his daughter, LaRae (Larry) Martin, of Calallen; his foster-sons, Randy Helms of Corpus Christi and Tommy (Brandi) Burleson of Orange Grove; his stepdaughters, Jenni (Brad) Brown of College Station, Linda (Steve) Boyer of Porter, and Cheryl Ellis of Shertz; his sister, LaRue (Jim) Shanahan, of Frisco; his grandchildren, Ashley, Amber, Coleman, Lason, Luke (Connie), Brittany, Tyler, Trace, Tripp, Michaelle, Lane, Marci (Sam), Sharon (Brandon), Kim (Adam), Bonnie, Chris (Dannielle) and Emily; and his great grandson, Knox.

Visitation was held Thursday, June 30, 2011at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Calallen Baptist Church, with Bro. Jack Willoughby officiating.

Burial followed in Robstown Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Tom Jackson, Weldon Martin, LaFon Denney, Bob Whitley, Jerry Pavelka and Ben Otahal.

Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Dulin, Lynn Whitlock, Clarence Jauer, Tino Longoria, Cruz Favela, Royce Allen and Gary Roseberg.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to Calallen Baptist Church, 13505 IH 37, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410, or to South Texas Childrenís Home, P. O. Box 1210, Beeville, Texas 78102.
