Irene Hattenbach Latham, 83, of Corpus Christi died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008.

She was born Sept. 20, 1924, in San Patricio to Hugh and Elizabeth Mahoney McCown. She was a member of St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church, was a Site Council President of the Senior Citizens that met at West Guth Park, was a former member of the Legends, a senior citizens softball league team, and had been active in the Calallen High School PTA, the FFA and the Band Boosters Club when her children were in school. She had owned and operated the North Pole Grill in Northwest Corpus Christi.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son and his wife, Bruce and Brenda Hattenbach; her daughter, Virginia Temple; two grandsons; one great grandson; four brothers; and her husband.

She is survived by two sons, Guy (Mary) Hattenbach of Aransas Pass and Robert (Crystal) Hattenbach of Sandia; her daughter, Mary Ordner of Corpus Christi; her sisters, Marie McCown of San Patricio, and Charlotte Byerley of Corpus Christi; her sisters-in-law, Wanda McCown and Elaine McCown, both of San Patricio, and Louise McCown of Corpus Christi; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, in St. Patrick Catholic Church in San Patricio with the Rev. Francis Sebastian as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Patrick Cemetery in San Patricio.

Pallbearers were her grandsons.
