Katherine Ordner Looka, 89, of Violet died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009.

She was born Jan. 15, 1920 in Violet to Joe and Katy Ordner. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and St. Anthony Altar Society, was a homemaker and seamstress. She and her husband, Paul, farmed in the Violet area for many years. She enjoyed family gatherings where her homemade noodles and apple pie were a favorite of her grandchildren and a must at every holiday.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years, Paul; and was the last of 13 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Looka Meyer (Roy) of Alice; her son, Larry Looka (Jeanette) of Corpus Christi; six grandchildren, Joe Meyer (Connie) of Houston, Melinda Meyer Planchard (Ken) of Round Rock, Darryl Meyer of Decatur, Brenda Meyer Blaylock (David) of Decatur, Duane Looka (Shelley) of McAllen, and Connie Looka Vrana (James) of Victoria; 13 great-grandchildren, Leslie Meyer, Adrianne Meyer, Peyton Planchard, Brandon Planchard, Kyle Meyer, Hannah Meyer, Arin Blaylock, Brooklyn Blaylock, Nicole Looka, Tyler Looka, Ryan Vrana, Paul Vrana and Sarah Vrana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Violet with the Rev. Msgr. Celestine Murray as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Violet.

Pallbearers were Joe Meyer, Duane Looka, Darryl Meyer, Kyle Meyer, Tyler Looka and Arin Blaylock.
