Elva “Ma Maw” Collins, 93, of Corpus Christi passed away Sept. 21, 2011.

She was born May 26, 1918 to William and Clara Kievel Young. Collins was a welder in Washington state during World War II. She and her husband were also homebuilders.

Collins was a homemaker and member of Southcrest Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Collins; daughter, Shirley Wittliff; son-in-law, Albert “Buck” Wittliff; and grandson, Bruce Wittliff.

She is survived by her daughter, Lena (Buddy) Walker of Corpus Christi; sister, Edith Bellah of Corpus Christi; four grandchildren, Mark (Lisa) Wittliff of Houston, Bret (Michele) Walker of Pipe Creek, Lori Walker of Odem and Stephanie (Pat) McDaniel of Sinton; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, and one more expected.

Visitation was held Sept. 24, 2011.

Funeral services were conducted Sept. 24, 2011 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
