Juan B. Gonzalez, 88, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2010. He was born on June 13, 1921 in Donna, Texas to Juan and Genoveva Bueno Gonzalez. He worked for Corn Products for 25 years and was a longtime resident of Robstown. He was a current member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, VFW, and the Robstown Athletic Booster Club. Mr. Gonzalez was a former Robstown City Councilman and Nueces County Drainage Commissioner for District 3. He worked under Commissioner Joaquin Villarreal III as a street department superintendent and was also the street department superintendent for the City of Robstown, and was a Board Member of the Nueces County Credit Union. Mr. Gonzalez was an avid Robstown Cottonpicker baseball fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Humberto Gonzalez; his brother, David Gonzalez Sr.; his sisters, Petra Mejia, Adelina Flores, Janie Balli, and Senaida Howell; his mother-in-law, Petra B. Gonzalez; father-in-law, Fortunato C. Gonzalez Sr.; and his brother-in-law, Leopoldo "Polo" Gonzalez.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lazara Gonzalez of Robstown, Texas; his sister, Leonor Ramirez of Dallas, Texas; daughter-in-law, Dahlia Gonzalez of Robstown, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Lillie (Rafael Jr.) Gutierrez, and Minnie Buitron, both of Robstown, Texas; four brothers-in-law, Leonardo B. Gonzalez, Fortunato R. (Fela) Gonzalez, both of Robstown, Texas, Leonel B. Gonzalez of Houston, Texas, and Abel (Matilde) Gonzalez Sr. of Corpus Christi, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, March 24 and 25, 2010 at Ramon Funeral Home Chapel in Robstown, Texas. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 26, 2010 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas. Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Richard Gonzalez, Rafael Gutierrez III, Javier "Jay" Gonzalez, Mario Gutierrez, Alfredo Valdez, Edward Michael Mejia, Leonard Mejia and Walter Howell. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Valdez, Manuel "Meme" Landin and Rafael Gutierrez Jr.
