Van Aubrey Jackson Jr., 76, died on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 in a Houston hospital.

He was born June 7, 1932 in Laredo to Van Aubrey Jackson Sr. and Margaret Cuellar Jackson. Van was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, was a farmer and rancher, horse farrier and at the time of his death was employed by WalMart in Alice. He was a Baptist, and past master of the H. B. Moser Masonic Lodge in Alice. He was active in many community organizations helping children, as a former member of the Orange Grove I.S.D. school board and as a past president of the Jim Wells County Farm Bureau.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Allen Salge.

He is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Linda Jackson of Alice; his daughter, Judy (Robert) Moseley of Calallen; his son, Dennis (Toni) Jackson of Mission; his sister, Marian Salge of Calallen; his grandchildren, Robert and Cody Moseley, Shayla (Kevin) Parker, Kelsi Jackson, Christy (Kyle) Malek, and Derek Muccitelli; his great-grandchildren, Savana, Kendahl and Ryleigh.

Private graveside funeral services for the family were conducted at Robstown Memorial Park.
