Urban L. "Sonny" Gregorcyk, 80, of Mathis, died Jan. 2, 2008.

He was born Sept. 19, 1927, in Bluntzer to Urban Bernard and Mary Lottie Carr Gregorcyk. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Annette Pullin.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lavera Cecelia Gregorcyk of Mathis; eight daughters, Cathy Gregorcyk of Rockdale, Jeanette (Mike) Hoyer of Superior, Neb., Mary Lee Trcka of Kenedy, Loretta (Brian) Kieschnick of Bishop, Jacquelynn (Sammy) DeSpain of Beeville, Lucille (Kirk) Greenwood of New Braunfels, Gretchen (Bobby) Valentine of Hammond, La., and Ellen (Martin) Patzner of Corpus Christi; four sisters, Belle Grossman of Orange Grove, Nita Repka of Robstown, Hazel Williams of Newark, Ohio, and Pat Durbin of Houston; one brother, Lonnie Gregorcyk of Baytown; 25 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, in the Dobie Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mathis. Graveside services followed in Robstown Memorial Park.
