Gilbert G. Hinojosa, 30, died Sunday, June 22, 2008 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Gilbert was born on May 4, 1978, in Robstown to Ernest and Olga Garza Hinojosa.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Modesto Hinojosa.
Gilbert is survived by his wife, Christina Caballero Hinojosa; his children, Gilbert Hinojosa Jr. and Savanah Christine Hinojosa, all of Robstown; his parents, Ernest and Olga Hinojosa of Robstown; his brother, Ernie (Erica) Hinojosa Jr., his nephews, Evan Hinojosa and Ethan Hinojosa all of Robstown; his paternal grandparents, Olivia and the Late Modesto Hinojosa of Robstown; maternal grandparents, Manuel and Maria Garza of Banquete; his in-laws, Felipe and Escolastica Caballero of Robstown; his brother-in-law, Michael (Sandra Van Meter) Caballero of Corpus Christi; his sister in-law, Diane Wingert of Houston; his nephews, Michael Caballero Jr. of Corpus Christi, and Spencer Wingert; his nieces, Sydney Wingert and Anna Wingert, all of Houston; and other relatives and many friends.
Gilbert grew up in Robstown all his life. He was employed with IPS and he was not only the founder, but the president of Fast Times Racing Team. His favorite pastime was his cars and motorcycle. He could always be found messing around with his car or with a fellow friend's car.
A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, June 26 and 27, in the Ramon Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment followed in Robstown Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Adolfo Ramon, Robert Lopez, Jesse Vargas, Elliot Gomez, Carlos Gonzales, Troy Escareno, Willie Garcia Jr., Raymond Villarreal, Roger Thompson, Jason Maldonado Jr. Garza and Michael Hunt.
