Roberto C. Elizondo, 87, died on Friday, May 8, 2009, surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 1, 1922 in Rio Grande City to Celestino Elizondo and Juliana Canales Elizondo. He was a retired carpenter, a member of Club Padres de Familia, a longtime resident of Robstown, and a United States Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eustolia Elizalde Elizondo; two sons, Roberto and Ramon Elizondo; four brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by nine children, Estella E. Marroquin of New York, Elia Elizondo of Houston, Rojelio Elizondo of Robstown, Roel Elizondo of Houston, Ray (Dora) Elizondo of Calallen, Ruben (Irene) Elizondo of Robstown Remijio (Lisa) Elizondo of Spring, Eva E. (Victor) Orona Jr. and Esmeralda (Rudy Jr.) Flores, both of Robstown; daughter-in-law, Mary Rita (the late Ramon) Elizondo of Robstown; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday, May 11, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment followed at St. Anthony Cemetery in Robstown.
