Gabriel Zavala Jr., 62, passed away on Thursday, Aprile 29, 2010, after a sudden illness. He was born on June 5, 1947 in Robstown to Gabriel Zavala Sr. and Amalia Valadez Zavala. He was born and raised in Robstown and later in life moved to Corpus Christi where he had resided most of his life. He was a former electronic technician with Xerox Co., a service manager with Kirby, a former Scout Master for Troop No. 289, a member of the Pan American Golf Association, and an avid golfer. He also proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era having served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Elena of Corpus Christi; three sons, Michael, Mark (Melissa), and Brian Zavala, all of Austin; his father, Gabriel Zavala Sr. of Robstown; four sisters, Olivia and Alicia, both of Dallas, Isabel (Carlos) and Celia, both of Corpus Christi; two brothers, Ricardo and Ruben, both of Houston; two grandchildren, Hayden and Corbin, both of Austin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held on Monday, May 3, at 10 a.m. in the Ramon Funeral Home Chapel.
