Ida Veola Hawkins Daughtry Carmichael, 87, of Dallas, and formerly of Robstown, died on Monday, March 24, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital in Plano.

Prior to moving to Dallas in 1997 she lived in Robstown for 58 years.

She was married to Willie Alfred Daughtry and from this union was born two daughters, Tansye Valese and Sharon Denise. She later married Otis Carmichael.

She also served her church, Star of Zion Baptist Church, and community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sandi and Ida Clara Mae Hawkins, and siblings, Johnny, Mae, Gertrude, Nannie, Marie, Robert and Jonathan.

She is survived by two daughters, Tanyse Jackson of Dallas, and Sharon (Danny) Rogers of Lewisville; grandchildren, Kenneth Mayfield, Toriano Rogers, Danny Rogers Jr., De Marcus Rogers; great-grandchildren, Tre, Nyla, Jamiah and Katja; five adopted grandchildren, Leslie Jones, K.C. Jones, Kelly Jones, Bryna Jones, and Holly Jones; 10 nieces, Alice Valerie, Lila Lloyd, Helen Merriweather, Lois Watson, Willie Williams, Esther Lee Robinson, Bobbie Darson, Jo Ann Burse, Gertie Davis, Clara Anthony, Marion Jones, and Judy Mitchell; four nephews, Willie Williams, Austin Shanklin, John Shanklin, and Robert Hawkins; and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 29, at 12:30 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Robstown.

Burial followed at Robstown Memorial Park.
