James Philip Stich, 42, died during his sleep on Saturday Aug. 16, 2008 at his residence in Corpus Christi.
James was born in Austin on June 8, 1966 but spent most of his life in Corpus Christi, which he called home. He graduated from Tuloso Midway High School in 1985 and attended Del Mar College. James worked as a pipe fitter and rig welder for Brown and Root, Repcon Inc., and Gulf States Refining. He also worked for the City of Corpus Christi and the Texas Highway Department during his professional career. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and also various outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Edna Stich.
James is survived by his wife, Gina Stich; three children, Nicole, James and Joshua Stich of Corpus Christi; two stepchildren, Christy M. Gustafson and Jeremy Gustafson; one grandchild, Aiden Bernal; and a brother, Steve Stich and sister-in-law Sherry Stich of League City.
A Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20 at the Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 21, at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Burial followed at the Sandia Cemetery in Sandia.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Arthritis Association.
