Adolfo "La Pulga" Valtierra Sr., 73, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at his residence with his family by his side.

He was born Nov. 15, 1934, in Robstown to Guadalupe Valtierra and Concepcion Martinez. He was a lifelong resident of Robstown.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Amada Valtierra; his son, Julian Valtierra; his daughter, Dalia "Dolly" Valtierra; his stepson, Juan Antonio "Tony" Leal; and his brother, Carlos Baltierra.

He is survived by his son, Adolfo Valtierra Jr.; two daughters, Zulema (Robert) Rodriguez and Saida Galvan, all of Robstown; three sisters, Pilar (Polo) Rodriguez, Josie (Eduardo) Guerra, both of Robstown, and Dominga Maldonado of Beeville; four brothers, Guadalupe (Rosa) Baltierra, Juan (Celia) Baltierra, both of Robstown, Mike (Zulema) Martinez of San Antonio, and Pablo (Julia) Baltierra of Jackson, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, in the Ramon Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment followed in St. Anthony Cemetery.
