Gloria Barrera Rosas, 73, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, surrounded by her family.

She was born in San Diego on May 28, 1935 to Urbano and Dora Sepulveda Barrera. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a lifelong resident of Robstown. She worked as a florist with her mom at the family's business, Dora's Flower Shop. She also owned and operated Gloria's Gift Shop at the Corpus Christi Trade Center for 15 years. She worked at Fabrific as a manager. She retired as a paraprofessional from the Robstown Independent School District in 2004.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Urbano Barrera Jr.; her son, Rodolfo Medina Jr.; and her grandson, Adrian Gonzalez.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jesus "Jesse" Rosas of Robstown; her daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" (Arturo) Gonzalez Sr. of Robstown; four brothers, Humberto Barrera, Roberto Barrera, Oscar Barrera, all of Robstown, and Richard Barrera of Las Vegas, Nev.; her brothers-in-law, Mace Guerra of Corpus Christi, and Gene Guerra of Alice; three grandsons, Rudy (Rosalva) Medina III of Houston, Michael (Sonia) Medina of Houston, and Arturo "Tudy" (Lila) Gonzalez Jr. of Robstown; six great-grandchildren, Madeline, Macie, Gabriella and Giselle Medina, Arturo "Tres" III and Elijah Gonzalez; and numerous relatives and friends.

A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 3 and 4, in the Ramon Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Rudy Medina III, Michael Medina, Arturo "Tudy" Gonzalez Jr., Michael Carrillo, Brien Barrera and Roberto Barrera II.
