Vernon Brittain, 80, of San Antonio died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007.
He was born Feb. 10, 1927, in Bentonville to George and Nellie Brittain. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran serving on the USS Dane. He was a farmer in the Petronila area from 1946 until 1989 when he retired. He was a charter member of Robstown Central Baptist Church (River Hills Baptist Church) and a congregant member of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nellie Brittain; brother, George Brittain Jr.; sister, Ruby Mae Brittain; and granddaughter, Dawn Urban.
He is survived by his wife, Sissy who he shared 62 years of marriage with; four children, Faye (Wesley) Atkison of Comfort, Vicky (Edwin) Miller of San Antonio, Richard Brittain of San Antonio, and Shirley (Larry) Urban of Dripping Springs; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Burial followed at Robstown Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Brad Atkison, Jim Jirasek, D'Wayne Lemm, Scott Miller, Josh Urban, and Todd Wright.
