Mary Helen Mendez Ramon, 77, was welcomed home with open arms by our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, after a long courageous battle with Alzheimers. She was born in Kingsville, Texas on March 26, 1934 to Pedro and Josephine Cantu Mendez. Mary Helen was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, a Registered Nurse who worked at the Robstown Hospital and Northwest Riverside Hospital for many years in the pediatrics unit before working for the Robstown and Calallen Independent School Districts as a school nurse. After her retirement she also worked as a registered nurse for several different home health companies. She was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed by all of the lives she touched by her unconditional love and support.
The family she leaves to cherish her memories are her sons: Rey Ramon, Pedro (Dolores) Ramon, Rene (Mary) Ramon, Rolando Ramon and Edward Olivarez whom she loved like a son, two brothers: Richard (Olga) Mendez of Kingsville, Texas and Henry (Mary Ann) Mendez of Corpus Christi, two sisters Ester Cantu and Sylvia (Abel) Chapa of Corpus Christi. She was also blessed and adored by her six grandchildren: Pedro, Michael and Rene Ramon, Ruben, Brenda and Liana Badillo, five great-grandchildren: Michael, Christian, Dominic Ryan, Nevaeh Rae and Donnivan Rene. She was also adored and blessed with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A Holy Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Ramon Funeral Home Chapel in Robstown, Texas. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2011 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas. Interment will follow in Santa Gertrude’s Cemetery in Kingsville, Texas.
