Placida P. Herrera, 90, of Robstown died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at her residence with her family by her side.
She was born on Oct. 1, 1917, in Corpus Christi to Jesus and Maria Cruz Rodriguez Perez. She was a member of Padres de Familia and was active with numerous political campaigns. She also volunteered in many charity organizations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwardo Herrera; and a son, Jose Ramon Herrera.
Survivors include her children and their families, Frank Herrera of Houston, Ubaldo Herrera of Tucson, Ariz., Gilbert Herrera of Robstown, Juan Manuel Herrera, Richard Herrera, Pedro Herrera, all of Corpus Christi, Josie Barrera of Wichita Falls, Kan., Betty Bacu, Alicia Rodriguez, Rachel Aguire, all of Corpus Christi, Irma Siddigui of Kyle, Janie Gonzalez of San Antonio, and Anna Maria Shockley of Robstown, 42 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday, April 18, in the Ramon Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment followed in Robstown Memorial Park.
