Funeral Mass for Maria Anita De La Rosa, 71, of Plains was celebrated on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Joseph Thanavelil officiating. Interment followed in the Plains Cemetery with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.

Maria passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2010 in Lubbock. She was born April 17, 1938 in Robstown to Alfredo and Trinidad Martinez. Maria married Daniel De La Rosa in Post in 1956. She cleaned the First Baptist Church for 16 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel De La Rosa, in March of 2009; and her sister, Alice Flores.

She is survived by a son, Tony Martinez De La Rosa of Midland; six daughters, Delores Ann Montoya of Sacramento, Calif., Linda Lou Lopez of Midland, Helen Sue Cordova of Plains, Mary Lou Garza of New Deal, Mary Jane Vasquez of Seagraves and Solia Linda Diaz of Alice; three brothers, Jose Angel Martinez of Krum, Otilio Martinez of Balch Springs and Juan Martinez of Southland; four sisters, Dominga Martinez of Slaton, Josephina Ellis of Littlefield, Carmen Martinez of Lubbock and Irene Valdez of Lubbock; 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Lee David De La Rosa, Jacob Garza, Arthur Hernandez, Johnathon De La Rosa, Terry J. Cordova Jr., and Ablem "Jr." Vasquez.

A Rosary was recited Tuesday and Wednesday, April 13 and 14 at 7 p.m. in the Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel in Denver City.
