Larry "Neal" McClaugherty, 27, born March 23, 1983 in Houston, passed away May 9, 2010. Neal was the son of Larry and Kathy McClaugherty. Neal attended Friendswood schools from the age of 18 months to graduation in 2005. He was the "Spirit of the Lady Mustang Basketball team," their number one fan and earned his letter jacket as the team PR manager. In addition, he participated in Special Olympics and the Best Buddies program where his love for horses grew with the Eddie, Robin, Lauren and Kacey Stanaland family. Neal also attended the Children's Association for Maximum Potential (C.A.M.P) in Centerpoint for many summers.

Neal is survived by his parents, Larry and Kathy McClaugherty; his paternal grandmother, Virginia Rawlins; other family members include, Brenda Marshall, Pat and Patricia Coyle, Christy and Todd Hoffman and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Gene McClaugherty; and his maternal grandparents, A.G. and Mildred Holm. In addition, he is survived by his supportive family, Sara Nagy Barrington, Sara Copeland, Sandra and David Copeland, Dana Ross, Carrie Bergland and Marisol McElwee.

Pallbearers were John Spangle, Ben Brown, Floyd Lazenby, Tim Woodson, Dr. Gary Clay and Dr. Louis Williams.

The funeral service was held Friday, May 14, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Friendswood United Methodist Church in Friendswood with the Rev. Jim Bass officiating. Burial was Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Karnes City Cemetery in Karnes City.
