Hector L. Flores Sr., 51, of Robstown died Sunday morning Jan. 4, 2009. He was born on Dec. 10, 1957 in Robstown to the late Rodolfo and Elvira Flores. In 1976, he graduated from Robstown High School followed by four years of college at A&I- Kingsville, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. On Oct. 15, 1982 he married Norma Flores Lopez and made their home in which together they raised three children. Hector worked at Odem Independent School District as a baseball and basketball coach, and in 1983, they won state championships. He was a teacher and baseball/football coach for the Robstown Independent School District for many years and belonged to the ATPE and the Coaches Association. During the 23 years he worked at Robstown ISD, he accomplished two state championships in baseball. He resided in Robstown all of his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rodolfo Flores Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Flores; his children, Adolfo (Myra) Ysassi, Nicole Flores and Hector Flores II, all of Robstown; his mother, Elvira Flores of Robstown; two sisters, Sylvia Cuellar of Robstown, and Nelda (Arnold) De La Paz of Corpus Christi; his brother, Rodolfo "Rudy" (Esmeralda) Flores of Robstown; two grandchildren, Isabella DelBosque and Marissa Ysassi; his nieces and nephews, Linda (James) Torrez, Ruben and Alexandra Torrez, Brian Cuellar, Desiree De La Paz, Rudy Flores II, Daniela Lopez, Adolfo Lopez Jr., Nicholas Cuellar, Ryana Flores, Donica Lopez, David Soliz, Danielle De La Paz, Randy Flores and Amy Rose Lopez; his in-laws, Clemente and Juanita Lopez, O'Nora Soliz, Balerio (Delia) Lopez, Adolfo (Norma) Lopez, Carol Lopez; and his students, football, basketball and baseball players, co-workers and many friends.

A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday Jan. 5, at the Robstown High School Auditorium. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday Jan. 6, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Robstown. Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery.
