James Emile "Jimmy" Saul Sr., 85, was born June 5, 1922, and died on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, after a brief illness.

Jimmy was a native and lifelong resident of greater New Orleans and St. Bernard parish, and most recently a resident of Corpus Christi, (following Hurricane Katrina in 2005).

James also served during World War II in the Pacific as a Seaman 3C in the U.S. Navy from 1942-44 on the USS Murray DDE-576. He was stationed at the naval base located in Corpus Christi.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley DeBourbon and Evelyn Bordelon.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rosemary Bonomolo "Bonnie" Saul; two sons, James Saul Jr. (Cheryl), and Ricky Saul (Christine); and one daughter, Darlene Saul Roussel (Herb); one sister, Marion Perry; and six grandchildren, Chantel Saul, twins Alison and Rachel Saul, Matthew, Gregory and Zachary Roussel.

A Rosary was recited at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 16, at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. that morning with the Rev. Monsignor Seamus McGowan as celebrant.

Interment was at 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 19, at the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Miss. with military honors.
