The Cherokees from Tuloso-Midway High School wasted little time flexing their might this season.

Their first game of the season, a District 30-5A match-up, ended in a convincing three-game win against Corpus Christi King.

There Cherokees won 25-14, 25-11 and 25-10.

Bethan Clapp had 11 kills and Kelsi Luckenbach had 10. Jazmine Perez had 19 aces and Katelyn Rozypal had 15.

Lauren Gonzalez had 18 digs.
