Friday was surely a red-letter day for Tuloso-Midway’s Ace Castillo.

He ended the day Friday evening by being named Tuloso-Midway High School’s homecoming King during halftime of Friday’s game.

However, he began the day by defending his District 30-5A boys cross country championship and earning a sport in the Region IV-5A,

Castillo won the district title Friday morning at A&M-Corpus Christi’s Dugan Athletic Stadium.

The T-MHS senior won the district crown with a blazing time of 16:04.90. Veterans Memorial’s Austin Vasquez had the next-fastest time in second place. His time was 16:42.61.

The Tuloso-Midway girls were also well represented. Franchesca Gatlin was third with a time of 20:32.72.
