At times, the Alice Lady Coyotes forced the Corpus Christi Ray Lady Texans off their game. Ray seems stunned early on as they tried to hang with Alice’s speed.

Eventually, the Lady Texans caught up and once they went up, they stayed up. Ray defeated Alice, 69-62, at home Tuesday night to stay undefeated in District 30-5A’s North Zone. The Lady Texans are 19-13 and 7-0 in the North Zone, while Alice fell to 18-12 and 3-4 in the North Zone.

Criselda Cruz and Tayler Blum had a big offensive game for Alice. Cruz led all scorers with 23 points while Blum scored 21Kayla Escobar chipped nine. Ray was paced by Alexis Mendoza’s 15 points and 14 by Victoria Lee.

Alice is playing at home Friday night against Miller. Tip-off is 6:15 p.m.

Ray 65, Alice 43

The Corpus Christi Ray Texans remained unbeaten in District 30-5A’s North Zone after beating the Alice Coyotes Tuesday night.

The Texans won at home, defeating the Coyotes, 65-43.

John Leija scored 16 points and Austin  Garcia scored 14. Ryan Nuremberg led the Texans with 15 points.

The Texans improved to 5-0 in the North Zone and 20-9 for the season. The Coyotes are 1-4 in the North Zone and 5-19 for the season.
