The Winters Lady Blizzards had an incredible 2017-18 basketball season. They won 21 games and were Bi-District Champions after defeating Hamlin, 51-39. After posting their best season in recent memory, the Lady Blizzards were rewarded with several All-District Awards.

Senior Monique Carrillo, who averaged almost 17 points per game, was named the District 7-2A Offensive MVP. Senior Aimee Green was named 1st Team All-District, while senior Cha-Cha Lovelace and sophomore Karlee Busher were named 2nd Team All-District. Senior Baily Knight and sophomore Marley Smith were named Honorable Mention All-District.

All 10 members of the Lady Blizzards Varsity were named to the Academic All-District team for maintaining a 90 or above average during basketball season: Cha-Cha Lovelace, Karlee Busher, Aimee Green, Brenna Knight, Skylar Lee, Baily Knight, Marley Smith, Brooklynn Anderson, Skylar Skelton, and Monique Carrillo.

“This was an amazing season,” said Lady Blizzards head coach Val Acree. “I was excited at how many all-district awards our girls received. However, I was most proud that every single girl on the varsity was named Academic All-District. I’ve often said this was the smartest team I’ve ever coached and now I have proof.”
