The Wildcats, who are in the middle for a battle for the lead in District 30-5A’s North Zone, hammered the Alice Coyotes through four and a half innings for a 21-6 victory in Chapman Field in Calallen.

Calallen led 5-3 after the first inning and Alice regain the lead in the top of the second with another three-run rally. However, the tide changed in the bottom of the second when Calallen scored 12 runs. They added three in the third and another run in the fourth.

The Wildcats ended the game with 15 hits. The Coyotes totaled five hits.

Freshman Jacob Guzman took the loss for Alice. He went one and two-third innings and gave up nine hits, seven walks and 15 runs. He was relieved by freshman Isai Campos who gave up six hits.

With the win, the Wildcats improved to to 6-2 in 30-5A’s North Zone. Alice well to 1-7.
The Lady Hornets remained in third place in the district race with Gregory-Portland. The two teams are 7-2 in 30-5A. For the Lady Coyotes, Friday night’s setback dropped them to 2-7.
