Calallen loses battle to Flour Bluff

The Calallen Wildcats suffered an early-season setback Friday with a 33-28 loss to longtime rival Flour Bluff Friday night.

Calallen trailed early, but cut the deficit in the third quarter. Flour Bluff responded with two touchdowns in the the span of about three minutes to go ahead for good.

Much of the Wildcats’ offense was fueled by Jarrett Garza, who filled in at quarterback in the second half of the game. Garza totaled 63 yards in rushing and threw a 30-yard touchdown pass.

The Hornets are 2-0 for the season, while Calallen is now 1-1.

Calallen is at home Friday against Needville.

The Tuloso-Midway Warriors improved to 2-0 Friday with a convincing win against Corpus Christi Carroll, 28-7.
