The Banquete Bulldogs and Aransas Pass Panthers gathered at the Bulldog stadium Friday for a non-district match-up. It was a hard-fought game for both teams having their shining moments throughout the game, but the Panthers excelled and won the game, 41-27.

The Bulldogs came out ready to play Friday night and showed it in the first half. The Bulldog running game punched through for three touchdowns in the first half. The Panthers quickly countered the first Banquete touchdown with William Butler scoring on an 80-yard kickoff return. Aransas Pass was able to score two more touchdowns in the second quarter, one as time expired, knotting the halftime score at 21-21.

Banquete started the second quarter with Robert Stewart returning a kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown. Both teams had strong defenses, but the Panthers controlled the second half, keeping Banquete to only seven points. The Panther offense kept the ball moving when quarterback Eric Johnson threw a 90 yard pass to Marcellis Childs in the third.

The loss was the first for Banquete, giving them a 2-1 record on the year. It was the final game of their non-district schedule.

The Bulldogs be idle this Friday and play again on Sept. 23 in Rivera.
