The City of Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department is offering a variety of Youth Sports Camps with professional instruction from June 8 to Aug. 6.

Basketball Youth Camps will be offered by the Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department for boys and girls at the Corpus Christi Gym, located at 3202 Cabaniss Parkway. The cost is $55 per child.

The four camps being offered are as follows:

July 6-9: Beginner Level camp is for ages 6-10 from 9 a.m. to noon and Advanced Level camp is for ages 11-18 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with professional instruction provided by Eddie Hernandez, CCISD Physical Education Instructor. July 27-30, 2009 Beginner Level camp is for ages 6-10 from 9 a.m. to noon and Advanced Level camp is for ages 11-18 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with professional instruction provided by Roy de la Pena, Head Girls Basketball Coach at Ray High School.

A Baseball Youth Camp will be offered by the Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department on July 13-16 from 9 a.m. to noon for boys ages 6-16 at the Grandstands Softball Complex, located at 1545 Saratoga Blvd. Professional instruction will be provided by Hector Salinas, former Head Men's Baseball Coach at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. The cost is $55 per child.

Football Youth Camp will be offered on July 13-16 from 9 a.m. to noon for boys ages 6-14 at the Cabaniss Football Field, locatd at 3202 Cabaniss Parkway. Professional instruction will be provided by Jesse Cruz, Assistant Football Coach for Moody High School Trojans. The cost is $55 per child.

Volleyball Youth Camps for boys and girls ages 8-16 will take place at the Corpus Christi Gym, located at 3202 Cabaniss Parkway. The cost is $55 per child. Two volleyball camps being offered are as follows:

July 13-16: From 9 a.m. to noon, with professional instruction provided by Ofie Castro, Head Volleyball Coach at Moody High School who led the team to the playoffs for the first time in the schools history. July 20-23: Fom 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., with professional instruction provided by Tommy Rios, who has 17 years of coaching experience at St. James School.

Speed Improvement Youth Camps for boys and girls ages 8-16 will take place July 13-16, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Aug. 3-6, from 9 a.m. noon, at the Corpus Christi Gym. Participants will work on speed, agility, quickness, and coordination. Professional instruction will be provided by Eric Jackson, former Miller High School graduate and former Texas Christian University Running Back. Cost is $55 per child

Soccer Youth Camp will take place on July 20-23 from 9 a.m. to noon for boys and girls ages 6-14 at the Corpus Christi Gym.

Professional instruction will be provided by Brandon Bourg who assisted his Father, former King High School Boys Varsity Coach with Summer soccer camps and Spring break soccer camps. The cost is $55 per child.

Softball Youth Camps will be offered at the Grandstands Softball Complex, located at 1545 Saratoga Blvd.

Two camps being offered are as follows:

July 20-23: Beginner Level camp is for girls ages 6-10 from 9 a.m. to noon and Advanced Level camp is for girls ages 11-18 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Professional instruction will be provided by Paula Salinas, Head Girls Softball Coach at Moody High School. The cost is $55 per child.
