Robstown athletic director and head football coach Doug Wood has submitted his resignation with the school district.

"My family and I have enjoyed being a part of the Robstown community during my (four)-year tenure here and wish nothing but continued success and good fortune to the entire Robstown community," Wood wrote in his May 21 resignation letter.

Interim Superintendent Alfonso Obregon said it was originally discussed that his tenure would end at the end of the school year, but Obregon said Wood asked to stay on until the end of the football season. His resignation will take effect at the end o December.

Wood has an overall record of 15-26 as Robstown's coach, with the team making the playoffs last year for the first time in more than 40 years.
