After dropping their first game of the season, the Calallen Wildcats have taken their second consecutive victory, blanking the Victoria East Titans 22-0 Friday night at Wildcat Stadium

"We got so many injuries, but our kids came out and played hard,” Calallen head football coach Phil Danaher said. “The defense played hard and the offense kept the ball away from their offense.”

The 'Cats started the game out slow, as both teams struggled to move the ball in the first quarter.

Calallen would get on the board first after Jake Brearton nailed a 34-yard field goal late in the first quarter.

Senior running back Marcus Price would get things going in the second quarter as he scored on a double-reverse play from 28 yards out, giving Calallen a 9-0 halftime lead.

Price wasn’t finished as he would later have a 46-yard punt return for his second touchdown to put the Titans away going up 15-0.

“The running game is executing more than in our first week,” Price said “Coming into this game I was focused on hitting the hole and moving the ball.”

Sophomore Robert Maldonado would get in on the ground attack as he scored late in the game to give the 'Cats the 22-0 victory.

The shut-out was the second in a row for the 'Cat defense, after their 21-0 win over Gregory Portland last week.

Calallen will face the Carroll Tigers next weekend at Buc Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM.
