The Robstown boys varsity basketball team won the 47th Annual Hebbronville Tournament this past weekend, avenging their 54-64 loss to the San Diego Vaqueros a couple of weeks prior with an overtime win in the tournament's championship game.

The Pickers opened the 10-team tournament with two games on Friday, defeating Freer by a score of 85-40 and then tournament host Hebbronville 70-41 to reach the championship game.

In the championship game, Robstown played a close game against San Diego, leading by three points with 14 seconds left in regulation. The Vaqueros were able to score on a three-point shot to send the game to overtime, but the Pickers' Adrian Molina was able to hit clutch free throws, ending any chance the Vaqueros had at making a comeback. The final score was 65-60.

D.J. Resendez and Josh Gaona received All-Tournament Selections. Molina was selected as the Offensive Player for the tournament and Matt Arellano was the All-Tournement Most Valuable Player.

Pickers head coach Bert Ybarra said he was proud of his team and would also like to recognize his assistant coaches for working hard to get the team prepared to compete.

This week, the Pickers will compete in the San Diego Tournament from Thursday through Saturday.
