It was a tough time for the Robstown boy's basketball team when they competed in a tournament at Bishop High School from Dec. 8 through Dec. 10.

The 'Pickers lost their first three games- 87-52 to John Paul II, 78-31 to Skidmore-Tynan and 58-51 to Kingsville Academy. However, the boys were able to finish the tournament on a positive note by defeating Riviera, 74-50. The win gave Robstown seventh place.

John Paul II ended as the tournament's champion.

“We're competing at a high level,” Coach Eliberto Ybarra said. “We're just very young. We only have two players with varsity experience. I think we'll be fine, we just need to learn to close out some games.”

Senior Paul Salinas led the 'Pickers in the tournament, averaging 17 points per game.
