Started in 1991, and renamed in 1996 for former Robstown Cotton Pickers assistant head baseball coach Bobby Gonzalez, Robstown's varsity baseball tournament has its 20th edition this weekend, with all games being played at Picker Field.

Defending tournament champions, the Robstown Cotton Pickers, will have three Pool A games, playing Miller at 11 a.m. on Thursday, and will open play on Friday with a 9 a.m. start against Hebbronville, closing Friday's game against Seguin at 8:15 p.m.

In the other pool, local teams from John Paul II and Kingsville High School will be featured.

The tournament championship will be played between the two pool first place finishers.

A final pool game will start play at 9 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the quartet of placement contests throughout the day.
