Proud parents and fans of the Banquete Bulldogs varsity football team watched as the squad dominated its way to a 2-0 record Friday night with a victory over the Taft Greyhounds, 34-14.

Taft won the opening toss, but opted to defer to the Bulldogs. Banquete’s Robert Stewart made the Greyhounds pay for that decision by returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown. The Bulldogs would tack on three more touchdowns in the first half, making all but one of the extra point field goals, and going into halftime with a 27-7 lead.

Taft tried to make a run at a comeback in the second half, but Banquete’s Jacob Gonzalez added another touchdown for the Bulldogs in the fourth quarter.

Banquete will face Aransas Pass at home next week as they search for their third straight win of the season.
