Aqua Fitness (Ongoing program)
Water aerobics is a virtually impact free workout that conditions all the major muscle groups as well as body composition. At the same time, it is a wonderful way to get the cardio and strengthen the heart, city officials said.
Men and women of all ages welcome.
There is no signup or membership fee and lifeguards are always on duty. Classes are at the Corpus Christi Natatorium on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The fee is $4 per class day or an individual can purchase an 8-class punch card for $24.
For more information, call the Corpus Christi Natatorium at 878-2337 after 5 p.m.
Junior GuardStart Camp
Not old enough to be a lifeguard? The American Red Cross GuardStart program is designed to prepare youth ages 11-14 to take Red Cross Lifeguarding certification programs and for future work as lifeguards.
The GuardStart program helps participants build a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills that they will need to be responsible lifeguards. Lessons are grouped into five main areas: prevention, fitness, response, leadership and professionalism. GuardStart is a week long program offered in June, July and August. Cost is $40. For more information, call 826-3460.
Pools are available for rentals after normal public swim hours. Fees are based on a minimum of two hours and 50 participants. For small swim parties, ask about the General Swim Splash Party.
