The upcoming boxing event at the Richard M. Borchard Fairgrounds has announced a date change. Originally scheduled for Nov. 19, the state boxing commission requested that the date be changed due to a nearby event at Reliant Arena in Houston featuring Julio Cesar Chaven Jr. that was scheduled for the same night.

Promoting teams agreed to move the show one day earlier to Friday, Nov. 18. As a result, the fight is now scheduled on the state commission’s Web site.

The headliner for the fight card, Rumble at the Fairgrounds 2, will feature Jerry “the Corpus Christi Kid” Belmontes (15-0, 5 KOs). It will be Belmontes' first fight since the first Rumble at the Fairgrounds took place in June.

Promoting teams also announced more names of area fighters on the card. Robstown's Team Gutierrez Boxing will feature Bobby “Boom Boom” Vela (1-0, 1 KO) and Marty Gutierrez, who will be making his professional debut.

Fighters from Corpus Christi will include Ramsey Luna (8-0, 2 KOs), Julian Barboza (1-0, 1 KO) and Cesar Villa, who will also make his professional debut. Luna , Barboza and Vela will all be making their first appearances since last month's Hall of Fame Fight Night at the American Bank Center. All three were victorious at the event.

The final fighter is Kingsville's Omar Rojas (1-1, 1 KO). Like Belmontes, this will be Rojas' first fight since the original Rumble at the Fairgrounds when he had his first win and KO over San Antonio's Nicholas Calamaco.

Promoting teams have said that there may be two fighters from the Alice area, but have not released their names. Challenger fighters are expected to come in from various parts of the state.

A press conference for RATF2 is tentatively set for Nov. 2nd at the fairgrounds. The weigh-in is expected on Nov. 17 at Brewster Street Ice House in Corpus Christi.
