The Calallen Wildcats baseball team needed their offense to get going Saturday night while trailing the Smithson Valley Rangers 3-1 in the final game of their playoff match-up.

After dropping the first game, the Wildcats managed to tie the best-of-three series up with a critical Game Two win on Friday. Fortunately for the ‘Cats, a high-powered offense is exactly what they unleashed on the Rangers in Game Three.

Calallen scored eight runs in the fourth and fifth innings, an onslaught highlighted by home runs from Chad Vanaman and Preston Dorsey. The Wildcats finished the night with a 13-3 victory over Smithson Valley.

Mando Arrevelo was credited as the winning pitcher for Calallen, in relief of Scott Hill.

The Wildcats will now face a familiar rival, the Moody Trojans, in the Regional Final. Calallen faced Moody twice during the regular season, coming away with wins in both games, 13-6 and 4-0.

Dates and times for the Regional Final have yet to be determined.
