Oil Belt Little League teams for the Minor and Junior divisions each competed in the State tournament this past week, with the Junior team winning and advancing to the Regional tournament.
The Minors team came up short losing both their games by one run.
The Junior team swept all three of their games to advance to the next tournament. The team opened up by defeating Capital Park, 8-2, then beating University, 9-3. They then faced Capital Park in a rematch, winning the tournament in a 7-4 contest.
The Junior team will advance to the Regional tournament, which will be played in Midland on August 5. The teams first opponent will be against winner of the Texas East tournament. The tournament will also include state champions from New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana, Colorado, Mississippi and Oklahoma.
The winner of the Regional tournament will advance to the Little League World Series, which will take place in Taylor, Mich.
