The Banquete Lady Dogs finished their regular season Friday with a 66-43 win over Freer, pitting the 15th ranked Lady Dogs against Santa Rosa in a district championship game tonight.

Banquete and Santa Rosa, both with 11-1 records in District 32-AA, will play at 7 p.m. in Riviera for the district championship.

Tonight's winner will earn a first-round playoff bye, while both girls basketball teams are assured of making the playoffs.

"Santa Rosa possesses the same traits as the Lady Dogs," said Banquete coach Adrianna Gutierrez. "It is going to be a very good and close game, and we have to wait for the last buzzer to buzz to find out who takes it."

The Lady Dogs have already had an impressive season, going 5-1 in the first half of the district season, and 6-0 to finish district play. Banquete's overall record this season is 29-4.

The Lady Dogs have also competed in the Aransas Pass, Port Aransas and San Diego tournaments. The Lady Dogs won the San Diego tournament where several players received individual honors: Nieves Pena was named All-Tournament MVP, Lindsie Chapa was Offensive MVP, Cori Ramirez was named Defensive All-Tournament, and Jordan Nava and Tiffany De Los Santos were selected All-Tournament.
