Robstown native Mike Gonzalez is suiting up for his first ever World Series appearance. A former ace for the Cotton Pickers, Gonzalez was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1997, making his pro-debut in 2003. Gonzalez was traded earlier this season from the Baltimore Orioles to the Texas Rangers. The Rangers clinched a spot in the World Series with a 15-5 win over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. The World Series began Wednesday night for the Rangers, who are facing the St. Louis Cardinals.
