The Banquete Bulldogs used both a solid ground game and potent air attack to down the Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats, 47-7, on Friday.
It was the third straight victory for the Bulldogs as they move into a tie for second place with Riviera, holding a district record of 3-1.
Quarterback Ben Benavides accounted for six of Banquete’s seven touchdowns, throwing four and running in another two. He finished the night with 216 yards in the air and added another 38 on the ground.

In the second quarter, Benavides tossed a 32-yard touchdown pass to Manuel Garcia. Benavides then added another running score from five yards out. In the second half, Benavides opened up with a 63-yard bomb to Garcia. Ramirez followed that up with his second score of the night coming on a 38-yard pass.
Skidmore-Tynan lone bright spot on the night was the play of Donavan Encina, who finished the night with 143 yards on 13 carries. He scored the Bobcats’ lone touchdown.
Sophomore O.J. Ramirez put an exclamation on an almost perfect performance for the Bulldogs, returning an interception for 40 yards late in the fourth quarter.
