The Texas A&M-Kingsville men's track & field team improved upon a number of season marks on Thursday night at the Incarnate Word Last Chance Meet.
Two freshmen, Tommy Singletary (Bay City/Bay City HS) and Isaiah Glover (Cuero/Cuero HS), each improved on their NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks.
Singletary raced to the win in the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.41, which ties him for fourth best in the nation this year.
Glover won the long jump with a leap of 23-10 and must now wait to see if it is enough to get him into the national meet.
Freshman C.J. Griggs (Cedar Lane/Van Vleck HS) won the triple jump with a leap of 48-9.5 and should be headed to the national meet after earning All-American honors during the indoor season. Glover took second in the triple jump (48-0.75) and Micah Franks (Angleton/Angleton HS) took third (47-7.75). While both have provisionally qualified for nationals in the triple jump it appears unlikely that they will be invited.
The Javelinas swept the 100-meter dash as well. In addition to Singletary, junior Charles Wells (Roanoke/Keller HS) clocked a season best time of 10.72 to finish second and senior Michael Price (Corpus Christi/Calallen HS) grabbed third in a season best time of 10.90.
