The Tuloso-Midway Warriors were not distracted by Sinton's 3-point attack, as they beat the Pirates, 69-54, Friday night.
Sinton's Josh Rodriguez led all players with 14 points, including going a perfect 3-for-3 from 3-point range.
Following close behind was Joseph Alaniz with 12 points.
Leading the way for the Warriors was Phillip Belford, who scored 12 points in the game. Drew Becquet was close behind with 11.
With both teams tied 12-12 after the first quarter, Tuloso-Midway began to pull away, outscoring the Pirates 17-12 in the second quarter to take a 29-24 lead heading into halftime.
Scoring came naturally for the Warriors as they kept the Pirates from coming close in the second half.
Tuloso-Midway scored 20 points each in the third and fourth quarters to help secure the victory.
Sinton did its best to try to make something of the game.
The team went a perfect 7-for-7 from behind the 3-point line.
After a less-than-stellar non-district season, the Warriors are hoping they can forget that as they prepare for district play.
The Warriors will begin their trek for the playoffs Friday when Tuloso-Midway hosts the H.M. King Brahmas.
The game will be played immediately after the girls match-up is done at around 8 p.m.
Last season, the Warriors, Calallen Wildcats and Flour Bluff Hornets made the playoffs.
